hmmmmm...don't worry. by the time vista's ready its high time i upgrade to a 4 mb L2 cache.Originally posted by chenc:Got a developers release of Vista installed on a intel core2 xtreme x6800. Works like a charm. But i guess the chip's 4MB cache makes a big difference. Most 64bits in the market now are 2mb only
i think even if vista finally readies itself it will take a while before M$ even dare to 'force' every user (including medium or small businesses) to switch to 64bit. after all most office applications works fine with just 32bit. so how will M$ answer to those who may still be using XP/ 32 bit in the event of a virus outbreak? blame the users for not upgrading to 64? i believe they will still hav to offer security updates and patches.Originally posted by chenc:Haix, just hope ms will not stop their web support and security upgrades for xp at the end of 2007.

Yeah... that's the impact.Originally posted by chenc:Read from somewhere in PC mag that more than 80% of the world's non-cooperate pc cannot run vista. And more than 70% of them need major upgrades to many parts of the pc in order to run it, another words, throw away and get new 1.![]()

Old computers very secure. Maybe only got CD and 3.5 floppy disk drive nia. No need to worry about thumbdrive viruses. No need to worry about boot sector viruses.Originally posted by pipipopo:hmmmmm...don't worry. by the time vista's ready its high time i upgrade to a 4 mb L2 cache.
meanwhile pppl not to worry..vista will take a while and our XP for noobs, for homes for professionals will be around for at least 2-3 years down the road. i hope all companies forced to upgrade to 64 bit too because if u take a walk down some still using very old comp.![]()
no lah as least a P4 because although ppl do office work some may want to watch movies from the comp during lunch and tea break time leh. but i think companies should change all their display to LCDs and have a smaller ergonomic mouse of at least allow each user to use or bring in and use their own ergonomic mouse.Originally posted by the Bear:whatever the hell i'm doing in the office, i don't even need a P4
heck! all most people use these days in the office usually do not stray further than MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and very rarely Access..
you can use the 1995 versions of those things on a bloody P2 and still come out with the same result..
what's the use of all that power for?
i asked my tech side this and they were unable to give me an answer... actually, i don't think they can answer anything at all.. whenever something goes wrong, it's either "cold boot", "reset" or they just change the set
One of the hottest as well.Originally posted by mikecola:toshiba make best laptops anyway.
Windows 95 on a P2 is slow.Originally posted by the Bear:whatever the hell i'm doing in the office, i don't even need a P4
