hi all,
currently i am connected to pacnet broadband (ADSL). but i am wondering if i can concurrently connect to singnet broadband. what i mean is, 2 computers, 2 diff service providers, 2 modems,1 phone line, both connect at the same time.
tks,
curly.
You can't do that. You need another separate phone line if you wish to do so.
No u cant.. if u want, get a ethernet ADSL modem, and buy a router.. den u can share the internet among the 2 computers..
I think connection should be no problem provided you have answers to 2 major questions as listed,
1) Like what a post above indicated, do you require a new phone number? Right now an ISP rides on providing an internet account with a phone number. There are promotions with Singnet that provides supplementary email accounts and discounted new internet account sign ups in the past and for these promotions the question of a new line/ number may have been answered. If more than one ISP can ride on one telephone number then mayb we can go to Q2.
2) Make sure you clarify the hardware and line/ cable connection with the ISP/s first before you set up your home interne with the computers. Old models of ADSL modem (USB powered) are not recommended unless you have 2 of it and they each serve one computer. A basic etnernet ADSL router modem usually has 2 physical link (one USB one Ethernet) and can serve up to 2 computers. If the question of one telephone (with filter) in a household with one/ 2 telephone numbers able to have 2 ISPs providing internet service simultaneously possible then one ethernet router connected to the wall and to 2 computers is enough to serve the topic starter's requirements.
the best is to call up an isp and check with their technical servie personel for calrification. remember to quote the situation and the specific hardware type which you intend to use.
