Window Movie Maker... slight problem...

  I'm trying to use this program... a few days ago I could but lately, don't know why my avi vids cannot use...
  
  
  
  Always get this when trying to import avi vids... I did check the "download codec automatically but still get this...
  
  I even did a system restore to a few days ago but still cannot... anyone knows why?
  
  BTW, my avi vids thumbnails also changed...
  
  
  
  Usually the thumbnails are a screenshot of the vid but now like that... are the two things linked?

  Set and configure your default video/media player. Another video player of yours may be conflicting with WMPlayer.

  Are you viewing the video or editing the video?
  
  I'm not too sure if Windows Movie Maker can edit .avi files though...
  
  If viewing, you would need codecs...

  I installed this codec pack and it works like a charm...
  
  though I did check the "download codec automatically" under the tools option, its still a mystery why it didn't work...
