Can't find any explanation for its disappearance.Originally posted by F.raon.I.R:thanks...but i'm still puzzled by its disapearance frm the start menu...
Nope, unless during defragmenting, you run some programs or a screensaver starts.Originally posted by MohamedF:Will too much defragment wreck your HDD? I heard that from somewhere...
So, what's the recommended defrag intervals? BTW, I download alot...
but its bad for your drive if you defrag too much.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Nope, unless during defragmenting, you run some programs or a screensaver starts.
This may corrupt Windows as the files are corrupted during defragmenting.
I haven't heard of anybody who defrag regularly getting a corrupted Windows.Originally posted by davidche:but its bad for your drive if you defrag too much.
Ya, I was told that too much defrag can ruin the HDD, but I got no proof...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I haven't heard of anybody who defrag regularly getting a corrupted Windows.
I've only heard of corruption of Windows when using programs during defragmenting or when the screensaver starts or whatever things you or the PC does during defragmenting.
A similar thread here. Like what is posted there, there has not been any complains that defragmenting too much can damage a hard disk.Originally posted by MohamedF:Ya, I was told that too much defrag can ruin the HDD, but I got no proof...

can i do my work on 1 drive while defragging the other?
only if its different drive?Originally posted by YI:no problem dude.![]()
i don't see any problem if you intend to view documents or run a screen-saver from the same hard-disk during the defragment process. but you are advised to close them should there be a pop-up warning you that disk defragmenter had been resetted numerous time and are not able to continue. as a general advice, it's more efficient to defragment after office hour or during your bed-time. with the appropriate power setting, there will be no wastage whatsoever.Originally posted by shinde84:only if its different drive?
cos i read somewhere cannot do anything while defragging
