how much does installing of os cost?

  i have a branded desktop. lost the recovery disc. how much does it cost for me to re-install the os by a shop? i asked some shops they say $50, then the other say $45. so the market price should be around this right?

  i think that's added cost.. you still have to buy the OS..
  
  and if you buy a new OS, you don't need to go to the shops

  Did U get back to the manufacturer and ask about buying just the recovery disc?

  If you decide to buy yourself, it cost at least $190 for XP Home.
  
  If you want free, go download a Linux distribution. If you don't know how to mount, you can order the disks at a few US dollars.

  once again. i've e license sticker which means i had the os but just tat now i'm running on another os and wanted to return to the factory os. so 50dollar is a good price?

  a guy from a computer shop charges me for e service. cos i dun have the disc which cost 80dollar if i buy from e company.

  Just go Sim Lim and buy ...Solve all your problems....There are lots of shop selling OEM ...Home edition is only 120...Cheapest is 90....Put in the disc within 30 mins u got yourself a new OS...

  i tot u lost the recovery disc, so u installed another pirated os cd on it, den u wanna restore it to the first original os installation.
  
  go buy a new cd better, the shops if they dun provide u with cd, it may be corporate or pirated versions. either case, the license don't belong to you.
  
  den install it urself, very easy one. juz put in, reboot and follow the on-screen instructions.
