How Much Would Servicing Cost?

My Acer computer has been giving me problems, ie cannot be turned on. Normally I would just unplug the wires then reconnect again then turn it on. Think its because I always turn it on for a long time before shutting down.
Then got one time, I did all that but to no avail. So I go meddle with the switches behind the cpu. I saw a voltage slider? Red color slider. So I decided to slide it with the main switch still on.
Then there was a spark and soft "bang". Spark is in the fan area. Smoke came out from the tiny round holes.
Hmmm what would be spoilt now? The entire computer and all drives? Or just the fan area? If so, how much would it cost?
Any good service providers around?

err.. i think ur fan, power supply and motherboard is a goner.
if u go neighbourhood shops, it'd cost 20 to 60 for a diagnostic. depending.. some anyhow one so be careful.
there is one at causeway pt, quite expensive and their components are quite few but overall still alright. been to there twice. if dun have the parts u wan, u can get it from sim lim den pass it to em.
if need to replace parts, juz add on lor. -

Ho seh... though I don't really know much about Acer PC, those sliders are for adjusting voltages. By adjusting with the power turn on, you are asking for trouble. Reading your description, I can guarantee that at least your PSU is gone case, since the slider is on the PSU. There's also a chance that your whole CPU might be gone, so you need to purchase a brand new one. Luckily SITEX is until Sunday... Thanks for boosting Singapore's economy.
If your warranty is not over, you have to bring over to Acer Service Centre at Jurong. Just lie to them that there is a power outrage and it becomes like that. And slide back the red slider to its original position if not you have to pay a great deal. If warranty is over, just bring it to your nearest PC shop. Depending on how severe the damage is, you have to pay anything from $30 to $300. -
I can confirm PSU gone. Since smoke comes out, it doesn't mean motherboard is fried, it could also be the PSU. But PSU connects directly to the motherboard, so if PSU is destroyed... motherboard may well be destroyed. Don't be too pessimistic yet. sometimes, it may not be totally dead, like mine, juz abit spoilt.
aiya, no warranty go and let the techie take a look. he can tell u wad exactly spoil. whether u wanna replace those parts or new cpu, decide after he tell u the results lor. -

Power surge could destroy motherboard... the chances that it's alive... I don't know. But I would put it at less than 40%.
Now that you know you shouldn't touch the slider, let it be a good lesson for you. Next time, ask then do.

There's a chance that it won't spoil, but as I said, no guarantees. A lot of hardwares are connected directly to the motherboard. If you destroy your motherboard, there's a chance that everything will go (though it's rare).
If you have a spare PC around, take out the hard disk on the spare PC. If it's working, no worries about it being spoil.

if not,open up ur casing and have a good look at ur motherboard...hopefully nothing is burnt but even if there is...also not confirmed that ur board is spoilt...
go get a PSU and plug it into the motherboard...if everything works fine after that...U are lucky...if not...then have to troubleshoot to see which part of the system is spoilt...most likely U have to change ur motherboard then...
I dont think any other component except PSU and motherboard would be spoilt from my experience...so dun get conned to replace lots of things if U take it out to some outside vendor...
