Purchasing PDA Phone. What to do, what not to do?

  Hi all
  
  Would like to listen to advice on how to choose a PDA phone.
  
  I am currently looking at the one from Palm and HP. Any ideas or advice?

  He asked me what the phone was for, not the entire system...
  
  Well, i need to read PDF files and modify excel sheets on the go.
  
  If possible, write my own applications and run it on the PDA phone.

  buy screen protection and casing once you get it. and make sure the phone have sufficient internal memory and cpu is good enough. and make sure the os isn't some inhouse obsolete crap like some nokia phones have.

  So.. Symbian Versus MS Win CE....
  
  Choose between the 2? I know HP uses Win CE, Palm uses

  Yup,
  
  Hp is using Windows CE/Mobile whatever you wanna call it. Palm has adopted Windows Mobile for the new devices as well. No choice, Palm OS cmi. I don't think Palm is still deploying Palm OS, correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, Windows Mobile provides better integration with your desktop/laptop [if it is running the Windows platform]
  
  Symbian OS nowadays are popular among smartphone whereas Windows Mobile are the main OS for PDA phones. Because I would say nearly all stand alone PDAs now is penetrated by Microsoft. There are also Symbian OS pda phone like the Nokia 9300 or those 9xxx series, and the Sony Ericsson P800, P900 series. Symbian vs Windows, it very much depends what you wanna do with it. If you want your phone to be more pda like, choose Windows platform. If you want your phone to be more phone like, Symbian is better designed for it.
  
  I have Windows Mobile but not Symbian, may be the Symbian PDA folks can share more.

  MS win CE i like, very popular.
  
  Palm OS is good cuz alot of crap online.
  
  Symbian i dun really like. softwares not so easy to find.
  
  im cheapo ma, so i dun sarport original.

  Dont get the HP ipaq rw6828..that pda got its own set of problem...but so does the o2 counterpart. (Atom)
