  Sorry, I can't answer your question since I always repair/service my computer by myself, and in my opinion,
  
  You can service the computer too.
  
  If it is problems with the OS or programs, format your entire hard disk and reinstall everything back. But make sure you backup your files first.
  
  If it is hardware problems, replace the parts there are faulty and reinstall the parts, then the drivers.
  
  And if your computer is over 4 years old, then I suggest you buy a new set since it is getting obsolete and will aways give you problems even if you get it "repaired".
  
  Finally, you should at least post what problems you are facing...

  haven got it fixed..if i were to fixed it myself..ppl say it could b the motherboard batt..but my dad say its a new motherboard..so if the acer ppl replace the motherboard..how can it b that the batt is not replaced..then suggestion for the computer to b virus scanned..but..the hanging make it impossible to complete any virus scan..hummm..so i m sort of stucked now..and fustrated..so decided to send for repair..if motherboard spoil..might as well..change it..so does any1 noe where to send for repair?? or suggestions on wat i should do???

  Systems specs or computer brand and model please. Those new hardware you replaced what were they? You did it yourself or thru another party?

  acer..old old com..about 5 yr old..send to acer service centre..they told me changed motherboard..within half a yr this problem surfaced..b4 that send for repair for another problem..changed hard disk and upgrade ram..

  Acer model name? What model and names of the hardware you replaced?
  
  I used to own an Acer comp too but the first thing that went was the graphics card. The old hard disk, random access memory, motherboard, psu, case and LCD were still functioning the day i sold them off.
  
  If you can provide those information including OS and softwares we can see if its possible to do a major overhaul or suggest a shiny new system for you.
  
  But if its a pentium 3 and you are using it on more than just regular internet surfing and Office most probably its time to get a new computer.

  no.replace the aging Pentium series chipset with either Core or Core 2.I wonder if its possible.

  If TS don't provide the computer model number and details, and the models of the new hardware and software he added to the system can't really help.
  
  Its not like every motherboard can be clocked to 2Ghz and they can support Duo Cores, esp older models. Replacement of chipset is one thing safe to be done by the experts with the right tools and working knowledge, more prefered to be called 'RMA repairs', if ever a chipset replacement is feasible on a board that is compatible.

  all these info i got from cpuz 1..
  processor..
  acer P4 1.5ghz socket 432 Mpga 0.18um mmx..sse..sse2..(donno wat found under instruction)
  mainboard..
  acer..model s80x
  intel i850 rev.A2
  
  wat else u guys need to noe?? also can tell me how to find out i very noob lar..

  One thiing about OEM computers is no overclocking options in BIOS. All locked. If you can somehow unlock it go ahead and OC to 2Ghz. The 8xx series chipset do not support duo core processors.

  I suggest a clean format to start with like one earlier reply. Are there any data in the computer that you want? If not we can start with formatting first if you have the recovery discs.

  the recovery disk gone liao.. this os is reformatted by the repair guy who i send to the previous time..

  How did you lose your recovery discs? See if you can contact the computer manufacturer for a copy of the disc again. At least you can hope if they can provide you paying for it is cheaper than getting a new copy of the OS. Forget about going back to the technical support service shop. If they solve the prob for you at a price and somehow or rather weeks or months later the some problem happen to your computer again you will become their regular customer in a system people come to hate as Pay-and-pay.

  Every OEM computers come with a recovery disc that contains the OS to be used for that computer only and the mobo graphics drivers. It is to be used mainly when your computer crashes and you are unable to repair and access your operating system then you need to do a clean format.
