New Laptop

HELo everyone,
I would very much like to get a laptop with 1GB ram, 100GB or less Memory, Dedicated Graphic card and DVD-RW. Main purpose is to use softwares a like AutoCad and play games like BF2. Any recommendations? I have a liking for Toshiba and Asus, but other brands of recommendation are welcome.
P.S. Do I buy now or buy when there is a computer fair? DO I get one with Vista ready or wait till Vista is installed in the com? -
it shud be vista capable and u are able to upgrade, with a free upgrade disc in the nxt few months

If you want to use Vista, buy next year when Vista comes out. Otherwise, get a Vista-capable or Vista-ready laptop.
Note that being Vista-capable and Vista-ready is not the same.

As for recommendations, anything but Sony and Toshiba. Sony may be good, but till the battery problem is solved, I won't recommend it... -

I am using Sony Vaio laptop, so far I am very pleasd with it. Often, it exceeds my min requirements.

.ASUS is bang for buck , i recommend you take ASUS, they do have laptops for dedicated graphics card -
Seriously, for dedicated graphics card laptops, it's rare. And it is by Dell. I found my email for it. Quite an old one, but still useful.

As for Toshiba, it has problems with regulating heat, that's why I won't recommend it.

ASUS do have dedicated graphics(X1700) on their A8 series maybe you can take a look

Acer quality seems to be dropping...people say go for Dell than Acer.

Try a notebook like the above. Know the graphics and processor power requirements of CAD software and games and searh for the hardware that has them. -

But if you want it to last, IBM is the way to go. Nothing lasts longer than IBM in my experience (except Macs)
