From Wad I know, Acer laptops are quite flimsy. Dell are cheap, but once spoilt, they have to be sent back to Penang to repair. Sony is a good brand that I was looking at, maybe you guys can recommend me some models? BTW, do you guys think it's wise to buy now or buy during the next computer fair? -
eh, nxt year, cause it will have the vista operating system, which is better then those capable ones, as capable ones are still those that run best in xp so if i were you, i would wait till nxt year

u can consider a Fujitsu too, they last long and they are normally of high standards and quality -

Acer (not really good, due to workman ship problems)
Dell
Reliable:
HP (sturdy built to last and processor maybe quite laggy when doin multi tasks)
Fujitsu (good quality and quick, battery life is v-good)
Sony (reliable and good, but battery concerns may question the quality issue)
Asus
Toshiba
IBM (Most reliable and has the highest life span) -
Well, I'll rule out HP cause for the same specs, I can get a Compaq with the same specs cause they are under the same company. I looking into the other brands am espcially interested in Toshiba, Sony and Asus. MAybe you guys can tell me more on these brands.

get the Compaq Presario V3132TU..its 2k from HP sg webbie.
Its nice,comes with Core 2 Duo,14" widescreen HD LCD screen and Media centre.U should also get free Vista upgrade.

the Starhub 3136 and 3132 is identical,but the latter is not affected by the lower spec incident -
I dun quite prefer Compaq cause I used to work with them and relisase taht their Laptop are charged at a high price with a low specs.

We have listed all all the possible brands and models, now the choice is yours.Go down to funan and take a look at which model which interest you, after all, you are the one using the laptop, not us.So don't expect us to keep on spoon feeding you, you got to do your own homework and make the choice yourself

Well, of course I want a larger monitor, are there any recommendations for a larger but just as powerful Laptop out there?
I have also noticed that Sony's Vaio Laptop is not bad. But you guys said about the battery problem, wad;s with the battery problem excatly? -

All batteries that has risk of over-heating and exploding has been recovered. The laptops now should be quite safe, with new stricter battery requirements I think.
I won't recommend Acer, from personal experience. Acer desktops can, but not laptops. DVD drives always cause problems, sometimes cannot detect at all. -

I've gotten an external one instead. The CD writer can't even read CD, the best of all, only can burn. -
Whoa! No wonder they are selling Acer at such a cheap price!
