  follow these steps.
  
  Look behind your computer tower.
  
  Look at the top where the power supply is usually situated. You will see a thick black wire protruding from the casing.
  
  Now follow the wire. It should lead to the wall - well, not quite. It should lead to something to the wall but it is actually connected to a *squarish piece of plastic mounted on the wall. If it doesn't lead to the wall, then pick up the **"three pin plug" and insert it into the squarish piece of plastic mounted on a nearby wall. (don't worry, there is only one way it can go in)
  
  Next examine the squarish plastic wall mounted thing. There should be a protrusion somewhere on it. Press it, making sure you hear a distinctive "click"
  
  Now go and power on your computer.
  
  Voila.
  
  There! That's my good deed done for the day. Now can I please have my fucking internet fixed?

  Anyway Ts, most likely your Power supply unit or motherboard(small chance) is spoiled liao.Is your computer a DIY or those branded ones?

  Yeap! sound like the PSU is roasted. but first try using different plug and power point to be sure.
  
  U can chg the PSU which is quite simple.

  It is not that simple, other components inside may go with the PSU as well.Really.

  no smoke no nothing.
  it was fine the last time I used it.
  then when I tried turning it on yesterday, it couldn't work.

  First check you house main switch circuit board for any tripped circuit. Then if your PSU power cable plug or any power extension or adaptor plug has any fuse inside use a multimeter to check for any broken circuit thus burnt fuse or use visual inspection for any blacken fuse.
  
  Then check to see if any soldering or wiring breaking the connection at the power on button. You may need to open the case to di this.
  
  Also look through all power cable connections to make sure that the plugs are fully fitted at the psu, mainboard etc.

  pointless to discuss here la. To make it simple, Y not jus bring it to compaq for servicing. Anyway, u cant avoid spending $$ if u 1 ur comp revived.
