msn live messenger; cannot log in

i typed in my password, and it gave the message that my internet conection has a problem. i can access the internet (obviously,
), so there's nothing wrong with my internet connection. my other friends can get online, and when i type in a wrong password, they don't give me the error message that i have typed in the wrong password.
they still show me the error that my internet connection has a problem. i shut down my firewall, i reinstalled msn messenger, but i still have this problem. -
it's time to get a new com.
put the ol' com back to where it belongs - the trashbin.

since you are running out of options here, you might want to try factory resetting your router. have you tried the build-in repair connection mechanism?

but msn really got a lot of problems. -
I believe MS might cut short MSN 7.5 life. If you are using that, go and upgrade, or downgrade to an older version that doesn't give problems.
More problems, get Trillian or Miranda... -

When your Messenger cannot log on while your inter access and surfing is OK.
Don't worry. You're not alone. The Evil MSN has done it again.
So what i'd suggest is. No amount of advice and troubleshooting could save you from the hour of evil. Don't bother going into technicalities.
Just live without your messenger for that night.
