Carbon fibre cases are here CES 007 Ultra is the first

BY FAR THE coolest case in the show has been the Carbon Fibre one by Ultra. Like the title suggests, it has real, not cosmetic, carbon fibre(CF) side and top panels with an exposed brushed aluminum frame.

The exterior side and top panels are real black finished but unpainted CF, you can see the raw weave through the epoxy. The panel is quite stiff, you can tell that by the high pitched sound when you tap on it, but also amazingly light. Where any other metal panel would sag if you lift it by one corner, this one remains almost perfectly straight.
The frame is also semi-exposed and it is made out of brushed aluminum. It compliments the shiny black CF well, the case looks great.

Form without function is rather pointless, but in this case, Ultra went the extra mile to put in a few unique touches. That rod leaning against the drive bays is called a power bar and you plug in a main power source to the top and it distributes it to all the drive bays without cables. This will probably come in real handy when laying out a system.
Ultra would not comment on pricing, but since race cars are not cheap, we would not expect to get one of these on sale for next to nothing. Availability is set for spring and the cases should be carried in a bunch of places, but we expect Tiger Direct to be in one of the first to get them.
So bullet-proof?
But dun think is splash-proof leh...if you accidentally spill coffee over...
Light and i think good ventilation.
