ok..so my pc always hang when i open games or watch video on youtube..
the hang is like after a while i use the program it will hang...
not just 1 program but any program thats lags the com..
did virus scan...didnt finish..cos hanged
did AVG anti spyware scan..didnt finish whole system..cos hanged..
did AVG anti spyware scan for memory..no threats found..
Unplug all device and plug again..didnt help..
my com has 4 ram..then i swap 2 ram at a time as suggested by starpuppy..
so..lets name the slot 1..2..3..4..
put 2 sumsaung ram into 1 & 2 ..3&4 open..empty..a sharp beep sound..
put 2 sumsaung ram into 1&2 ..3&4 inserted with dummy...a sharp beep sound..
put 2 kingston ram into 1&2..3&4 inserted with dummy..a sharp beep sound..
trojan detected by mcAfee active scanner and cleaned .. was under a file pysme..
so..wat should i do..i m going to send the computer for repair this weekend..appointment booked..so wat may have spoilt..and mayb how much to change it or repair it.. -
What happens when you remove the dummy RAM?
Try more permutations with the RAM.
Remember to name the RAM 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Put in the first piece of RAM into slot 1. Then start the PC. If the PC starts up properly, shut it down, put into the second slot. Then try again. Try all permutations till you hear a beep.
It means either that slot or that piece of RAM is having problems.
Unplug your LAN card, graphics card (if you have onboard graphics, otherwise don't), sound card and other cards that you have. Make sure you have your monitor, hard disk, graphics card, RAM and keyboard is plugged in. Then start your PC.
If they have no problems, add in the cards back one by one.
If you have problems, it could be your graphics card, hard disk or keyboard. If you have spares, get a spare and start up the PC. -
humm..mine is Sd ram..need to put dummy or not..as in ..must??cos..like i try to not put dummy..got beep..put dummy..got beep..i must put all 4 ram inside then theres not beep..
like
ram 1..2..3..4..
put in ram 1 into slot 1..2 into slot 2
3..4 dummy..beep...
ram 3 slot 1..ram 4 slot 2..dummy in slot 3..4.. beep..
then i dulan..ram 3 slot 1..ram 4 slot 2..ram 1 slot 3...ram 2 slot 4..no beep >.<
wats wrong seah..can it b that slot 1& 2 is malfunctioning? but wont that means i have to get a new mobo?? -
No, don't put in dummy RAM to test. Just test each of the RAM one by one.

Bro, find out what motherboard you're using, then search the internet for the specs. Suspect either your Ram or M/B got problem. Unless you're using PC800 Rambus. Is your SD ram comes with ECC?

Eh? Acerx80? U mean your PC model? Go Acer website, search for your PC model and check on the specs. Check the sticker on your Kingston Ram for the type of Ram you're using.

Hmm... it's weird all right. I've never seen such a case before.
Can you take out all your RAM sticks and look at the stickers?
Write down all the stickers details and give us your motherboard brand and model number. -

If no, it can be due to Windows. But now since you are having hardware problems as well, it's also a possibility that your hard disk is also having problems. -
humm..hard disk is quite new..and yet to try reformatting..also reformat would b my worst option cos of the content in current hard disk is quite alot..and i wan to keep them.. btw..need to sleep ..tired..lol..will check back morning..
