how to password-protect a router?

  do u want to protect the router admin access or the wireless data over the air?
  
  the advice given so far for the linksys one seems to be protecting the wireless data over the air. WEP is sufficient for most cases (if u switch off your router after use daily) but WPA is the latest that some people claim will take a supercomputer much longer time to crack.
  
  in any case, the config depends on the brand of the router.

  WPA doesn't take long to crack with a normal PC nowadays. WPA2, yes.
