I have a 40GB 2.5" Samsung external HDD, but when I plug it into my T43's USB port, it doesn't detect it. Is there something wrong with my USB port or the HDD?
Thanks

Your usb doesn't have enough power to support the drive. Does the hdd come with a port that allows it to be powered seperately?

Normally, 2.5" external harddisk cable will have two USB head. one is connected to a thick cable the other is to a thinner cable, Thick one is for data and power (the one that you are suppose to plug into your comp) the thin one is to provide extra power if the required power is not enough.
Normally, when power is not enough, the LED on ur external harddisk will keep flashing unless urs doesn't have one.

might be both. to test whether your USB port is working, connect it with a working USB device and see if it has effect.
if your USB port work, got to do with your HDD

Hmm, okay. I've plugged a USB cable with 2 heads into both my laptop's USB drives. The HDD LED indicator is blinking at times, and I can feel it vibrating, but there's no indication of it being detected.
