anyway btw what is the meaning of this...my computer pop up sumtinz juz now
Windows:
virtual sumtinz too low le...sum applications might be denied...
and lately l go back play maple le mah....but after l alt tab out from the game..l want to go internet explorer....den will hang....the page itself will hang...cannot surf net lo, unless l stop play maple le...get out from the game le..then can surf without problem..
what problem is this? is it a virus? -

To save memory, you can go Run-->MSconfig , and then disable the services you never use, and also disable auto-start programs.
For me, I dont even keep anti-virus running. Only when I download something then I call the anti-virus to scan it before opening.
Just try to keep your comp running only the essentials.
Another possibilty is your C drive getting not enough space, so the Windows cannot assign enough memory. You should check your C drive and see if it has comfortable space left.

If you buy HD, might as well buy a proper RAM. RAM is very cheap anyway.

It means that you don't have enough RAM. When a program runs, it starts using virtual RAM, but even that is not enough to support.
Windows will then pop up this error.
Either you set a higher value for virtual RAM, or you get more physical RAM.
For setting a higher value for virtual RAM, right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Under Performance, click Settings. A new window will open.
Click on the Advanced tab in the new window.
Under Virtual Memory, click Change.
Select the Custom Size option.
For initial size, type in the amount of physical RAM that you have. For example, you have 2 sticks of 256MB RAM, this makes 512MB in total. Put 512MB in that box.
For maximum size, multiply this by two. This is the default size. You can add more to this if you are facing virtual memory problems. For example from 1024 to 2048.
Note that this will eat up hard disk space, since virtual memory uses the hard disk.
Another way would be to use the method stated by Meat Pao (if you know what can be safely disabled). I wouldn't recommend disabling antivirus and firewall, unless you practise safe surfing habits.
Also, clear your temporary files regularly. CCleaner or ATF Cleaner are both good and free.
CCleaner gives you more options on what to clear, while ATF doesn't. Also, ATF is only compatible with Windows 2000 and above machine, while CCleaner is compatible with all versions of Windows. -
Your application.....game or whatever.
When you experience more and more lag....and finally unbearable lag...and finally the application crash and exit to desktop.....that is memory leak...usually the developers will release a patch...

Linux uses a separate partition for paging file. It's not called paging file in Linux, it's called swap partition, but it works the same way as Windows.
In Windows, the page file is where the OS is used. -

They probably want to crash the PC till you reformat it.
Either way, Meat Pao and Ito are also right. Update your system and get some programs to manage your startup items.
Starter can help you to manage that, if you are not that confident of playing around Windows.
Still, if you would like to play around, post and ask away. Some programs can be safely disabled without disabling Windows. -
