In Vista, they lock down the firewall, antivirus and anti-spyware. It makes your PC more vulnerable than ever.
And running more than 2 copies of firewalls and antiviruses is disastrous for PC health. Nothing can be more lame than that.
More than that, their copy protection might be going the way of Sony, which is not only a security hazard, it's also a privacy hazard.
Their new features - really redundant other than serving the purpose of looking nice and easy to use. -
microsloth kena sued for locking a lot of programs before.. they had to unlock them after a huge number of anti-trust suits...

toshiba pen drive USB cannot be detected...
instead it detects as usb 1.1.. mass stroage device
WinXP detects as toshiba transmemory USB device(working) -
so.. mmm... feel like trying out vista.. the ... 'other' version one.. he he

Vista upgrade invalidates your XP key

If you choose to purchase an upgrade version of Windows Vista to upgrade XP, you will no longer be able to use that version of XP. Either on another system, or as a dual-boot option. The key will be invalidated, preventing activation.
From VistaÂ’s EULA found here (PDF) :
13. UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligiblefor the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from.
For many people this may not be a problem, but itÂ’s a change from earlier versions of Windows.

how about the pirated versions. Have the hackers n pros found away to go around thier.. 'software shutting' options..etc etc.. since it seems to violate so much of the privacy. Its like installing an official certified Trojan or Backdoor programme into ur computer . lol!

not yet. previous version of windows (eg. xp) requires the xp disc before upgrade. but however, they changed the way of upgrading in vista... wait till digg updates
and also, there is this "crack" around for Windows vista users.. it slow down the activation due date.. (which can last your vista for 3-6 months). Users who wish to risk it must have their data backup first. -

Microsoft is trying to screw the user as much as possible by calling their locks and everything "security"
thing is, since when was Microsoft things ever secure?
5 years after the launch of XP, they're still patching it.. and they have unleashed Vista on the unsuspecting world.. which i have already written, they were preparing a service pack before the launch...
i wonder what next?

lots of pro and cons.. but however, i'll get the pirate copy of vista no matter what.. unless it proves me worth buying it, i'll buy it.
and also, the only time when i use microsoft legit is when i buy my laptop. cos laptop goes with that OS...

1) We are to used to microsoft user-friendly and nicer interface, therefore not wanting to try to use Mac OS and Linux.
2) Most of the softwares (Games and stuffs) support microsoft, some support Mac OS but very little support Linux.
3) Linux is only use (for now) as OS for server.
4) When microsoft cease supports for Window XP (E.g. not releasing updates and stuffs), we will be force to use vista.
5) All new PC comes with vista from now on.
6) We will never escape from microsoft clutches unless someone invent a OS that is more user-friendly, easy to use, better interface and better security than microsoft. -

1) Linux and Mac are as user-friendly as the others. That's no excuse. Two problems hit them - hardware drivers and softwares. Since these two aren't the major OSes on market, not many hardware developers will develop drivers for these two platforms. 2) There are workarounds for this. Still, not an excuse.
3) Linux only use is not just for server. It has other purposes (excluding desktops).
4) When MS cease support, who says you can't use XP? You still can. If you are a safe surfer, nothing will bring you down. If you aren't, then the advice would be to get another OS (security through obscurity) or get Vista.
5) That's if the PC is from some company. If you build one yourself, you can still use other OS.
6) That's a crap reason. Linux and Mac are known to be more stable than Windows, yet people still choose Windows. Why? As stated in your first reason. Humans are one lazy creature and don't like changes. When they get used to one thing, they would hardly want to change. Tell me, do you use the Dvorak keyboard or Qwerty keyboard? The Dvorak keyboard is better in all ways, yet not many people choose to use it.
Anything will be as secure as you want it to and anything will be as stable as you want it to if everything is left to default. The problem is, we don't. We are curious bunch of creatures, who wants to find out more things which leaves us with rubbish to clear. We are always seeking improvements, tweaking this and that spoils our PCs.
