will opera browser allow a pogram to be installed or run without your knowing? is it more secure than ie?

No, it will prompt you before downloading and installing anything, unless you set it not to.
It's as secure as you want it to be if you surf safely. -
sry to hijack, but its also a question about opera, so i think i will ask here...
uhm, is there a Spell Checker plugin that is like Firefox2? where by you spell wrong, then it underline in red, then u right-click to see the correct spelling and correct it? -

Select Advanced tab
On the left hand side, click on Downloads
Untick Hide file types opened with Opera
Then under Mime type, select application/x-msdownload
Click on the Edit button on the right.
Under Action, the selected Option should be Show download dialog
If it's not, then it's set to run with the browser... those settings can be changed one by one. Leave them as default is just nice.
As for the hanging at night, perhaps more users are surfing the Net at night, reducing speeds and causing it to hang for a while. -
jus switch back to firefox 2.. opera browser keep freezing..
