qns on wireless

  my gf just got her laptop from compaq, then her house got wireless router but how come she cannot connect the router?? Anyone can help my gf? thanks.

  from starhub rite, u must call them, then they will show her the steps to add the computer to the wireless network

  Make sure wireless is on.
  
  If on still can't connect, check if drivers installed or just use XP wireless configuration menu. Should be able to scan the available networks and use them.
  
  Still cannot, call up your provider.

  well her latop can scan the avaible network, it can detect the hse network but it just failed to connect.

  Does it use filtering of any sort? Like MAC address?
  
  If yes, add her MAC address in.
  
  To check her laptop's MAC address, go to Start > Run and type in cmd
  
  In the command prompt, type in ipconfig /all

  once U got the MAC address...go into the wireless router's config page and check if its enabled.
  
  to go into config page...open up ur internet browser...type in the Default Gateway's address...in the example given by mayi...its 192.168.1.1...urs may not be the same...if done correctly...the config page should appear in the browser.
