i meant A+ and network+ thereabouts..Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Comptia is an organization which does the certifications... it is by no means a certification.
Regarding your question, I seriously doubt it's of much importance in Singapore. Not many jobs require you to get certifications... they want a degree... more important than anything else.
Certification to me is more specialized... degrees are more general...Originally posted by Rockhound:ok..
wats ure view on certification compared to degrees?
A lot of certs are wasted in Singapore...Originally posted by Rockhound:i juz find it wasted that certification isnt taken seriously by employers...
imo..a person prolly learn more thru certification and job experience than a degree uh..
yeah....have a dip already...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Certification to me is more specialized... degrees are more general...
For example, A+ certification. You learn a lot about hardware and OS troubleshooting...
A degree in IT may teach you that, but it just touches the surface, like whether everything is plugged in properly, got beep codes, what's the errors etc. An A+ certification goes more than that...
If you are looking towards a more general side of IT, then going for degree would be right for you. If you are looking more towards a specialized field, say networking, then getting certifications would be a better choice. Of course, your diploma/degree would help set up the basic path (that's your foundation knowledge)
CCNA and Network+ are very similar... if you are interested in climbing up the Cisco ladder (which is CCNP and higher), then start off with Network+, then move on.Originally posted by Rockhound:yeah....have a dip already...
very into networking..
now working for HP...kinda eager to start and learn on the way..
kinda deciding whether i should go for CCNA or start off with Network+ first
