my dvd drive is gone in My computer

I tried putting few DVD and CD to my disc drive. But it wont run up. In My Computer, normally it should have the drive there. But in my "My computer" only showing my harddisk and my Document only. How??

Thank you for the reply, but where is the Add Hardware? i cant find it in my Add or remove program window. I tried using thru help and support. It doesnt open

hmm I think its not there.
In my computer it still doesnt show the disc drive. (not harddisk) -

Go to Control Panel, select the Add Hardware icon...

ur drive is loose... either open up ur laptop to tighten it, or use external disc drive..

I think its not loose. Because when i insert the disc. the yellow light still flash. Then later the light is gone..
anyone help me please? Because i really need to install something.
My laptop was given not long. Can i give it to the warranty? Or this problem is just a small problem? -

go to device manager again, check if u can see ur drive there... check issit being disabled...

its on "dvd/cd-rom drives" group... can u see that ? if not, scan it...

1. ur drive is being disabled or
2. ur laptop gone through some vibration thus causing the data cable to somehow loose....
compaq should have a POWER MANAGEMENT kind of thing, check if the drive is being disable there or not. ( it should be at the right bottom or ur task bar.. look for the battery sign or the power socket icon )
