Requistises:
1) play games- must have good graphic drivers
I dunno wat kind is good le?
2) high mermory space
Hmm... as much as I can get coz I wanna download a few games, n some software at least 2 GB ram if possible
3) nice looking - not so bulky if got colors good bonus, best if medium weight since i gonna lug it about
standard colours only nvm got silver color can liao
4) cost-effective n value for money
5) wireless-G n bluetooth technology
6) 14-15 inch widescreen
7) Core2Duo Processor
Good Sound effect also
9) free upgrades to dvd burner also
10) Windows Vista compatible but I dun wan vista installation as yet
heard still got bugs, I dun need bus ar so now I only need windows XP
11) Long battery life
12) Budget = $2000-$2500

All fairs will offer laptops... only thing is, they are at different times of the year. Start of the year, probably the same specs laptop will cost $2000, by the end of year, $1000++ nia.
1. Play what games?
2. What sort of software you loading? Photoshop? AutoCAD? Macromedia?
4. You answer my question, then I tell you if it's cost effective.
5. Not to worry, all these are usually included in a laptop.
7. Shouldn't be a problem nowadays, most manufacturers are offering Core Duo or Core 2 Duo.
8. All sounds are integrated into the laptop... so sound effects will not be good. Invest in a good speaker and lug it around. My friends did that.
9. Most manufacturers now install a DVD burner instead of CD/DVD Combo... if you tiok this manufacturer, please don't buy. If you say upgrade to Blu-ray or HD-DVD, another matter hor... I don't think they are going to offer it FREE...
10. Some manufacturers already pre-installed Vista. If you want a specific laptop because it met your requirements, then you could request for Vista to be deleted and then install XP over it.
11. How long? Most can last around 2 to 3 hours or slightly longer. This is enough bo?
12. You want bundled software? Most laptops come with them... anyway, got removal tools for it... don't want bundled software, I lend you my XP CD. Or better still, Linux. -
i think if you do not define your budget,it may just lead to info recommended that may not be of use to you.

2. Another OK. Laptops can handle that. But don't ask me AutoCAD. I have no idea as I have never touch one. But hor... if you are planning on Maya, please make sure you have at least 1GB of RAM. Maya eats memory.

12. Bundled software... usually some trial antivirus, anti-spyware, and other rubbish. But they also bundle good software. I got PowerDVD with Acer. I think that's the only useful software that they bundle. 
Based on your budget, not that hard to get what you want. Unless you want Blu-ray or HD-DVD drive, this one I can't guarantee.
Time you confirm, Friday meet you at City Hall station. I direction blind one, don't ask me go Suntec myself.

looking at your budget,you should be able to get most of what you want.
You stated online games,maybe you could state more specifically which cos there are online games that goes easy on 3d graphics and those that are very 3d graphic intensive.Also you may like to take note that graphic card for laptop has very little chance for upgrade once you get it so you may like to plan it out for future games you want to play too.
Battery life,laptops come with a default battery (6 cell) that provide about 2-3 hours of batt life but there are also separate higher cell (12 cell) batt that can provide about 5-6 hours of batt life so if you need this,you may like to ask if the brand you are buying sell this separate batt
Warranty is also important.Most come with 1 year warranty and there are others that provide up to 3 years (some compaq/hp models),Asus laptop come with 2 years warranty. -
