Mac wireless

  Does a Mac machine connects to a wireless network automatically?
  
  I've got a client who has a brand new Mac machine, and it connects automatically to some unsecured wireless network. He's afraid of being caught by the authorities for leeching on their networks, but I don't know Macs...
  
  And he hasn't bought a base station... or is it optional?
  
  What to do?

  Switch it off. Go to the icon on the top right of the screen (upside down cone).

  Ask him get AirPort Extreme Base Station. I think its 54Mbps, the last time I bought mine was $344, price should have dropped since.
