  seems like my laptop doesnt run as fast as what they shown me on the display sets.. or am i just scaring myself?

  Turn off Aero feature. It will run faster.

  ya hey.
  am getting a laptop. COnsidering fujitsu, dell or acer laptops. Am more pro towards Dell's cos cheap cheap. I'm ok with AMD chipset (actually, i dun like intel cos too expensive). Anyone have any experience with the three brands, or any other brand to recommend?
  
  Just for admin work, excel, word, photoshop, watching dvd movie, surf net and not intensive gaming.

  For longevity, take IBM. But price isn't cheap.
  
  Since it's a quite a general laptop, all brands will suit you.
  
  AMD laptops are hot, Intel ones will be better.

  What have you been doing with your computer? Speed can be compromised by lots of factors.
  Security not tight enough? Infected by adware, spyware, viruses, trojans?
  Too many running processes? Hardware not powerful enough?

  IBM as in levono? Not against china but made in china leh, me wonder about the durability.
  
  Ya read abt the heat stuff with AMDs, but read they also came out with something that is very efficient in reducing heat??

  yep u are right.... but due to higher power consumption, they are still hotter than intel's chip. just that they manage to look after their heat well

  Yup.
  
  So far, Lenovo has been doing well in upholding IBM's brand name, thus I'm recommending it.
  
  Efficient in reducing heat for desktop PCs, but laptops wise, not much improvement.
