Refer to your router manual and it will tell you how to access the set up page.Originally posted by winning 11:Mm, I got some silly IT questions to ask..
Well I am using this SMC Wireless Cable/dSL Broadband router for 3 years..internet service is from starhub.
When i installed the SMC software, my bro did not set any sort of password etc on the router and it was installed on my late fujistu laptop which was spolit already. But the router still usable..
Now the questions are
1) I want to set password etc for my wireless connection aka router yeah..but i don't know how le...my laptop that had the smc installed in it is spolit thou i still have those smc CD etc
2) Its a question i am thinking, since my router did not have password which means people can easily hack/piggyback my network...then if I am using cable for my internet connection, will anyone still able to hack into my laptop?
note, the wireless connection in my laptop is OFF, i am using cable..
Hhmm..i just want to secure my SMC wireless network..how to? calling smc or starhub?
Kindly help...thankxx
uninstall it. use windows wireless zero configuration instead. usually you wont have to use the advance options of the program which blundled with your router.Originally posted by winning 11:u mean go to?

You said about turning off the router before Windows fully shut down, and seems like this is causing the error.
Did you install any router software? If yes, try removing it in Safe Mode.
Also, do you have your network card installation CD with you?
If Windows give an error that you can't uninstall, and you can't boot into Normal Mode, do this:
Go to Start > Run and type in msconfig
Select the General tab. Under Startup Selection, select Diagnostic Startup.
Now select the Services tab. Tick this box: Windows Installer. Click OK to apply the settings. Windows will prompt you to restart. Select Yes to reboot.
Then uninstall the router's software after Windows restart.
Do not proceed with this step if you don't have your network card installation CD. Only proceed on if you have the CD
Right click My Computer and select Properties. Select the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.
Device Manager will open. Scroll down to Network adapter. Click on the + sign to expand. Right click on the adapter shown and select Uninstall.
Reboot your PC back to Normal Mode. See what happens.
u got a problem because u off it before shutting down properly and u say its the router's problem?Originally posted by winning 11:paiseh, i mean i off the power of my lappy when it was gg to shutdown. Hence it did not have a proper shutdown.
Anyway i am thinking this is because of the router.
I shall try ur method but hor..what is a network card installation CD? isit the router installation CD? yeah i got with me..
i shall try tmr..its getting late! neverthless thanks for ur reply! : )
hopefully can...
Does your laptop use a battery? If yes, turning off the power doesn't spoil the laptop, since it will automatically switch to use the power stored in the battery.Originally posted by winning 11:paiseh, i mean i off the power of my lappy when it was gg to shutdown. Network card is card, not router. Since you are using a laptop, I doubt you have will have the network card installation CD. So don't do this part.
