thank you mayi. I have left computer line for a long time already so still some help needed.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:As long as you are connected to the Net, you will never be safe from hackers. The only you can do is to prevent.
Use a router that has built-in firewall to manage it. Use NAT also. Consult the manual on how to configure properly.
After that, install software firewall on all PCs.
Q2 - You've answered yourself.
Q3 - Once mail is downloaded from one PC, the other PC won't be able to download anything, because it's deemed by the server to have downloaded and been read. Either one PC does the mail downloading, or every PC does it and share the email around.
Q4 - Do up your website and sign up with a web hosting company.
Server wise, get Apache. A lot of people are using it and it will be easier to get support. Not here. Softwares depends on what your uses are.
Q2 - You can use that as well.Originally posted by SevenEleven:thank you mayi. I have left computer line for a long time already so still some help needed.
Q2 - i was referring to Window NT Server software for the server?
Q3 - is it possible to divert all the mail to the server so everyone can read them instead. not all my staff are computer literate to be able to tranfer the mail here and there.
Q4. how? any recommendation?
Q5. You proposed the Server Apache or software Apache? If former, what operating system and how many user(both)? Any recommendation to the hardware? what about Dell Server (cost is a critical consideration)?
many thanks![]()

Q2 - You can use that as well.
Q3 - Err... beats the purpose? You receive the mail from the server, and divert back? If not, use the web browser to browse, not email client. It will show all the emails that have downloaded and read.
Q4 - If you don't know how to do a website, you will have to hire one. If you want to try yourself, get the basics from W3Schools. Softwares to build website will be Dreamweaver, but it's not free. Free alternatives include Nvu or Amaya. Amaya is developed by W3C, so it will ensure that your website is compliant with current Web's standards.
Q5 - Apache server. Apache server is ran on Linux natively. There's a Windows version, but that's software. That's XAMPP. Hardware wise, if you are considering using Apache, make sure the hardware is supported by Linux. It's provided with XAMPP.
Q2 - Yes. Linux is completely different from Windows. If you aren't comfortable, use XAMPP for Windows. Everything is just click and click.Originally posted by SevenEleven:Q2. do i need to know linux to use?
Q3 again. i meant that the mail was downloaded into server. then configure (how to do with outlook express?) every pc outlook to read the email at server. the mail will remain in the server so that 3rd party can also read them. as you can see, this is a mail for common purpose. ([email protected] is widely spread among clients).
as for personnal email they will use ([email protected])
do you get what i mean? /..eri also can't get it if this is what i want
many thanks
