window xp installation problem

  hi,
  
  mi hdd jus crashed a few days ago and ive been trying to fix it. at first i tot it was something wrong with mi hdd so i tried reformatting
  
  i can run the 1st pharse of the installation properly: namely the disc partition ,the installation, after that windows will restart the computer. im suppose to move on with the 2nd phrase of the installation after that but after rebooting, windows keep bringing mi back to the 1st phrase of the installation again.
  
  i tried changing IDE cables, slots, using both mi hdd (including a new one i just bought), tried 2 window xp disc, but still cant get the installation to move on.
  
  i checked on the net to find similar case but fail to find any.
  
  have anybody encountered the same problem? appreciate any help or suggestion.
