1TB Hard Disks shipping in June

  Read this in a tech magazine.
  
  Seagate will be shipping them into either UK or US starting from this June to consumers.
  
  Not sure when Singapore will get their first batch, earliest is next year.
  
  Already, Dell is shipping 1TB hard disks (brand: Hitachi), but it only applies to their Alienware laptops. Dell XPS series will be up next.
  
  For your info, Dell offers 1TB hard disks for about USD 540, roughly SGD 810. Excluding shipping charges.

  Now 3/4TB selling at about sgd500 ++. Hope when 1TB comes 750MB prices will drop. Just like when 750MB just came 500MB started to drop

  Target consumers are those doing multimedia design or other sorts of design that takes up a lot space.
  
  Examples are Photoshop and CAD.

  I don't think I'll be needing it, though... I already have a 40GB external drive for backups.
  
  And so far I've only used about 3GB of it.

  Now no need, but as Microsoft Windows suck up more RAM, and hardware can't support so much RAM, the extra space might well be needed.

  I think a hard disk will be suitable for you. Just wait till around this June if you are going to be in US or UK.

  but i also want a mp3 player..than can record fm/meetings, etc
  
  so far oni creative come close..but they suck

  Do you need to partition the drive? So big, after year or so will become laggy, won't it.

  Most likely you will need. Both hardware and software already have problems recognizing disks that are bigger than 137GB.
