I don't know whats wrong with my user accounts setting. But i just can't switch it to the option where i just need to click and type in my password. Currently i need to press CLTR+ALT+DEL than i can key in my password and logon to windows. Another problem is i can't even add a new user.... And now when i want to remove the password from my current account i can't do it.
Don't know what S'PORE POLY did to my laptop.... -
is it you need to be the Administrator to change effectively change the setting?
What does SP have to do with you lap top??

You are on a domain.
You probably don't have administrative privileges on your laptop... since you can't add new users.
Just to be sure, go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
Do you see this?
If yes, there's nothing more that I can do, it's SP settings. -
Yes. I change the Administrator to my name and my usual group is debugger user but i changed it to administrator. What the fuck sia.... Like that SP screw up my laptop? Want add also cannot?

Nope, SP didn't screw up your computer. It's just the way it's supposed to work. Are you guys supposed to install a lot of programs yourself? If no, SP probably never see this need for you guys to be administrators. Since you guys also have computer labs, it makes no sense to install things on a laptop as well.Originally posted by Refugees:Yes. I don't know if this works, but most likely it will, since XP is one of the most insecure OS around.
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
On the left hand side, click on the + sign to expand Local Users and Groups.
Click on Groups.
Double click on Administrators on the right hand side.
Click on Add when a new window pops up.
Add in your username. Then click on Check Names.
Click OK all the way, restart PC.
Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and see if your username is under Administrator group.
Don't tell SP, or I mati liao...

Than how can i change views? I don't want to press CLTRL+ALT+DEL. I want the one which i can click on my profile and key in password straightaway

Control Panel > User Accounts
Click on Advanced tab
Right at the bottom, there's this box about Require users to press Ctrl + Alt + Del
Untick this box.
Click OK. Log off and see if this effect is still there.
If it's there, you have to restart PC for the changes to take effect. -
No no. I don't want that type. I want those click on the profile than key in password one. Anyway the method you taught me to add new user they say "Name Not Found"

This is not available for users on domain.
How can your username not be found? -_-
Is your school using VPN? If yes, connect to your VPN.
If no, go back to SP and use their network to surf the Net. That should probably do the trick.
If VPN doesn't work, please go back to school and use. VPN is not to be abused this way... -

So I guess SP is not using VPN.
The reason you have to go back to school and surf is because you are on a domain. The way that domains work, is pretty much like how you sign in to sgF.
Since XP can't find your username, most likely it needs to verify your identity with some servers, that's why you have to go back to school and use their network. -
So how? Still got any method to add user and change the view?

Since you are on a domain, try typing in administrator as your username.
Leave the password field blank.
Then press Enter to log in. If you are prompted that you have entered a wrong password, then no choice...
Or if you are using Acer laptop, type in 0000 as the password. See if this works. This cannot, no choice... -

If can log in, then you try to change the settings as posted, starting from Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management step. -
freaking sh*t. cannot. argh, damn frustrated. okay, if i can't add a user what about changing the view? now the User Accounts settings totally different from my desktop. I prefer the one on my desktop.
