Thats bad. Feel like reformatting my laptop. Does that helps? But why do SP want to change my settings? Needed for my schoolwork?

Yes. Especially when you need to download softwares and install.
This will verify that you are part of the school and they will allow you to download and use the softwares legally. -

going to get a wireless modem/router tomorrow. Recommend me any brand? So i go Funan and ask straightaway don't need waste so much time. -

At Funan? Are the people there friendly? Gonna ask lots of question when i'm there. Is there a wireless modem out there? If there is it will be so much easier. Install the modem and my laptop can go wireless.

Yes. They have a shop at both Funan and Sim Lim.
I know the Sim Lim guys are friendly, not sure for Funan.
If you really want to ask questions, the Laser Distribution guys at Sim Lim are friendlier.
There's a wireless modem for both Dlink and 3Com. 3Com costs $95. Not sure for Dlink. Check their pricing at Hardwarezone. -
So the wireless modem will be easier than the router? Just plug in install and i can go wireless?

Arrrgh! Now i can't open task manager. Press CLTR+ALT+DEL and task manager tab was not available for clicking. what happened?

Just reformat your lappy.
I am not sure about SP, but NUS installs lots of bloatware and giving you lots of restriction in their lappies. -

try this... if its xp home
back up ur stuff...
install/reinstall/move all required software into the partition of ur hard drive (or an external hard drive) that does not have the os.
reformat the partition with win xp. reinstall...
not tried n tested... just a suggestion...mayi: will this work?

haha ok, i am from np, but i got it from sch.
from experience, most probably he joined the sch domain, which has certain features to locked him out from doing some stuff on his com. however, he need to join the domain to verify dat he is a student of SP so dat he can d.l or submit wad ever sh*t he needs as a SP student.
i dunnoe if he noes how to unjoin the domain? i think he shld ask SP lo. more likely he doesnt noe how to use his com. or else u see SP student coming here to complain.

All softwares used in polys here are licensed, so you need to verify yourself to be part of the school. One way is to join domain. Then you will be able to download and install the softwares (maybe no installation, he has no administrative rights).
Whether or not he gets the laptop from school or outside, he still has to join domain because of this reason.
Another reason for using a domain is because of security reasons. Most people, no matter how tech-savvy they are, will always do something that will compromise a company or school's network. By being in a domain, the administrator will know what is going on throughout the whole network and quickly fix them if something happens. -
