Help regarding laptop

This is the scenario :
My laptop is preloaded with Windows Vista Business Edition.And i had to downgrade it to XP pro cos the school's system didnt support Vista.So now its loaded with XP pro, and whenever my laptop starts up, i hav to do this ctl+alt+del thing to log on to my com.Its jus like back in secondary school's computer labs.The thing now is :
1)A window that says Generic host smth windows 32 pops out (the one with the send microsoft an email and the don't send button)
2)Another window pops out together with the first one.It says there was some error in running this programe "svchost.exe" and asking me click "Ok" to terminate the programme or "Cancel" to debug the programme.
Whichever i press, the whole laptop comes to a standstill. It literally hangs and i hav to restart it all over again.Both windows pops out only a few secs after windows is starts up.
What can i do..?

svchost.exe is an important process/file in Windows. That hanging probably means that some files in Windows are corrupted. See if you can enter Safe Mode without problems. If you can't, that means you have to repair Windows or reformat and reinstall XP again. -
My friend also kena this problem cause of some stupid problems from window updating.
Because re-installing very trouble have to run all the way to poly to do re-installing (at least for me, because SP requires that), what I do is enter safe-mode, after that do a system restore to a previous date. The problem should be solved. -
How do i enter Safe Mode..?

Press F8 immediately when your laptop starts. If this doesn't work, try F5. If F5 doesn't work, just press any button till it works.

selling laptops with vista, when sch's software dun even support vista itself and have to make students downgrade back to XP with so much god damn problems.

Bloody hell, I still got that problem. I thought I solved it by disable the Java update, but its still there when I boot up today. I have restoring it for many times already, but the problem its still there. How sia?

Or are you a clone?
If you are a clone, my answer is simple. Borrow XP CD from the school, boot up to the CD and select the Repair option. Also, does your laptop crash in Safe Mode?
If you are not a clone, please stick to the right thread, or state your problem... either in a new thread or as a new reply here. -

I started this thread ma http://sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=245424 . TS seems to have the same problem as me. So, I don't want to bump up the old one ma.
Anyway, I'm not sure whether my laptop crashes in safe mode, but when I boot up my computer and press F8 immediately, there's this beeping sound.

Either it's a laptop feature, or there must be something. But then again, if there's no beeping sounds during Normal Mode, I see no reason for it to beep during Safe Mode?
What's the laptop brand? -

Bloody sian leh, I just bought it several days ago and that stupid window update just screw everything up. -
Hmm... haven't heard beep sounds from Fujitsu laptops before.
Anyone using Fujitsu? Try getting into Safe Mode and see it beeps. That will help mase a lot.

Heh, I able to go into the safe mode already. As for the beeping sound, I think I pressed F8 a bit too early when it is booting up.
