Anione experiences the same problem as me?? My IE window closes whenever i click to download something. Thats very irritating causes i usually need to refer back to the webpage for information but loses it the moment the window closed. Ani one can solve this problem?? isit a virus or /?
Dunno how to solve it but i would recommend u to use firefox.. If u use firefox, even if firefox "accidentally" closed, u no need to refer back to the website again, cuz firefox can restore it's session which other browser doesn't support....

Most probably is because of error in the file type settings.
1. Open "Control Panel"
2. Open "Folder Options"
3. Select "File Types" tab
4. Locate "URL Internet Shortcut"
5. Click "Advanced" button
6. Click "Edit" button
Make sure the settings are as follows
Application used to perform action:
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
Use DDE:
The box is checked
DDE Message:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application:
IExplore
DDE Application Not Running:
It should be empty
Topic:
WWW_OpenURL
Click "OK"
Repeat for "URL Gopher" (if exists)
Click "OK" until the windows are closed
Restart your computer

Firefox ah.. hmm.. few of my frens oso recommmend me to use firefox but i din install coz i do not use to have too many programs clogging up my pc....

As far as I know, this is a stupid bug in IE 5.5. It shouldn't be causing problems in IE6.
You can try right clicking the link where the file is and select Open in New Window as a temporary workaround.
Then try updating Windows to see if there's any cure.
