planning for a new pc

  overclock? yes, but not extreme.
  raid 0
  dual channel ddr2
  use for medium gaming.. warcraft3, hl2,wow
  store movies,mp3
  need a new lcd screen also
  
  hi, i'm on a tight budget..
  any comments about this build? any should i change?

  price list just updated, change back to 1 hdd only, using patriot ram cos its $2 cheaper

  i dun really think it is worth the trouble to raid 0 2 normal speed drives....even raid 0-ed raptors arent really that much faster than normal 7200 drives
  
  go for 500gig WD drive? think it is 216 at bell

  Is there a need to Raid? Why not just get 2 hdd?

  Take away the Raid 0, you are doubling the chance of getting your data lost should any 1 of the 2 hard disks fail. Moreover you will not see much of a difference between stripping (0) and a single larger hard drive. I should say since you are storing it for music and movies get a single 500GB for the same S$240/~. Unless you have some older used components to transfer to your new build i can see your budget is really tight. Maybe you can squeeze some money from the raid array to get a better psu.

  ok la.. since not much performace and also double the risk of failing.. so i drop the idea of raid 0 liao.
  
  btw, why must get better psu? cos of unstable wattage?
  
  and also, that is going to be my personal PC liao ^^ weee.... i dont have extra parts except speakers, mouse and keyboard

  Why better PSU?
  
  Not better lah, a trusted one.
  
  Because:-
  
  (1) you Oc-ing, amateur or zealously, its still over-clocking
  (2) just for a peace of you mind

  quite true ah... if the cheap psu buang, the whole thing buag.
  
  recommend me some good psu and budget type one.. voltages from 430 to 500
