  on the desktop, right-click -> properties -> appearance tab
  -> advanced -> items drop-down box.
  
  u can choose watever color u want

  You can make the background of the labels for the icons invisible at Control Panel - System - Advanced - in Performance click Settings - and in the panel (near bottom) check Use drop shadows under icon labels on Desktop.

  After searching for 2h. I finally found the answer..
  
  here:

  Four things are required for transparent icon backgrounds:
  
  1) 'System Properties' -> 'Advanced' tab -> Performance 'Settings' ->
  'Visual Effects' tab:
  "use drop shadows for icon labels..." must be checked
  
  2) Right-click on Desktop -> 'Arrange Icons by' -> "Lock Web items..." must
  be CLEARED
  
  3) If you have any web content on your desktop, transparency won't work.
  
  To check for web content: Display Properties > Desktop tab > Customize
  Desktop button > Web tab > make sure all checkboxes are clear.
  
  4) Wallpaper must be an image file, not html.

  The picture files you use also have an effect... after some playing... I can't set back...
  
  Because I did 2 things:
  
  1. In Photoshop, I created a picture with transparent background
  2. Save the picture in PNG with interlacing
  
  Re-saved the picture without interlace, the whole problem solved.
