Microsoft to offer student softwares for $3

Yes, you hear it right, it's $3.
The softwares are Windows XP Starter, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, Microsoft Math 3.0, Learning Essentials 2.0 and Windows Live Desktop.
It's available for all countries.
But there is a condition, the country interested in these softwares have to pay at least half the cost of the computer the software will run on.
Sounds good, but Microsoft mentions country. So if Singapore not interested, you won't get it!

with the track record of our gabrament, looks like maybe all the foreign students will get it while our local ones may end up having to buy the full-priced ones

This is one time where I don't mind.
The softwares provided are much more limited. The full versions have more functionalities.
The Singapore Government has my full support for subsidizing our foreign friends.

Our govt won't buy one lor, they so kiam, MINDEF is using Openoffice by the way. No, they didn't pay a fcuking cent for it.
