Testing of LAN Cable

  I've a 3M LAN 5e Network cable. Would like to test it before sending it to the buyer of my router. Would like to know what's the most effective way to test it?

  there's a device for testing of cables but i don't know what is it called.

  Errr, plug it between your computer and modem?

  plug it with 2 computers.
  
  go start -> run
  type cmd in both comps
  
  in comp 2 type ipconfig
  den you should be able to see the ip
  
  in comp 1 type ping
  
  see it on the received area.
  
  if there's no loss, means its gd
