Protecting images

It's a school module...
Other than digitally watermarking your images, any other ways?
I've found the JavaScript method (write a script to disable right clicking), using meta tags (does this one work? I actually can right click and save
), using Java applets, using Flash and putting a transparent GIF image on top of the image.
Any other methods? -
1 way is to break up the picture link.
make the url hidden by breaking it up multiple times. -
in some site when i really want the picture badly, and the site protects it by disable right click, cannot "view source" to find the path, etc...
i will make screenshot, crop away other parts of IE window leaving only the pic i want, and saved it. -
And in the first place, the "protecting" means what?
means try not to let users save it?
or means make water marks so that even they saved it, your website name is there?
Or both? -

print screen that auto crop using photoshop, takes a couple of secs really..
if you truly want to protect the picture, you would have to use multiple methods, the best is watermarking but that would ultimately ruin the picture.

typically the easiest method is to use a flash picture browser.
my favourite is either autoviewer or simpleviewer - both freeware. -

And er... I found programs that can disable print screening... -
the point is, you can't stop someone from having the picture on their com harddrive if they choose to do so.
if it is for originality and copyright sake, the full image watermarking is essential, but ultimately ruins the picture. -

Think there's something from Macromedia Flash that disables the browers to save and upload pictures, while keeping it as a link of a thumbnail only...

Mayi, about placing water mark, the postion is an issue. I have seen alot of site placing a water at top/bottom/corners. ppl can cut it away. Those site that really want their site name to be seen, they place a half transparent water mark in "important area" eg. if it's a pic of a pretty girl, place near her face. If it's pic of a car, place on the car.
For stopping users from saving it. Then u go by "ways to save a pic" first, then u find scripts or others way to disable those ways of saving pic.
mouse over saving, right click "save picture as", view html source code to find the path of pic and paste path in IE URL bar, printscreen+crop saving, etc. -
those sites preventing right click to save images..i tot just save the webpage can get the images..did it quite a lot of times, still ok

Yeah... I found some ways and it's working perfectly. One site that I visited uses PHP to prevent people from saving the pictures. In effect, you save the whole PHP script with no pictures. If want to disable print screen... hmm...
But how??As long as they can view the pic in browser(be in shown in Flash or normal html code), they can press the printscreen button. Your website can disable some of the browser functions, but printscreen is OS(windows) function.
If you make it only thumbnail, so they even they save it's very small, that will ruin the purpose of "showing the pic in your site".
p.s. I think to stop them from printscreening, you have to think "logically" instead of "techincally". -

I try google and found some script that can "clears the clipboard memory continuously as long as the page is kept opened" not sure if it works.

edit: so now one of the approach to go is to "clear clipboard" instead of trying to disable the fucntion. -
