Port problem?

I am located in Singapore and running a wireless connection via Starhub Maxonline as the ISP and i am using Dlink DI-614+ as my wireless router. The problem is that i cannot sign in to Live Messenger, with the error code as 80048820 and extended error code as 8004840f. I also cannot connect to Windows Live Update with the error code as 0x8024502D. I also cannot go to certain websites, and some websites which i can go to, disconnect every 5 minutes and I have to press refresh again. I have no viruses or spyware as I have checked with updated AVG and Ad-aware. When i go to some websites, they did a scan for me and told me that the problem was that ports 21, 80 and 443 (the ports for FTP, HTTP and HTTPS) were not open. I am now wondering if that is the real problem and if it is, how do i open the ports? And whether i could solve the problem by changing a router? I am more than willing to change a router if it solves the problem. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Btw this is my first time experiencing the port problem of MSN
but the webpages loading was experinced about 2 weeks ago and still happening -
You using a firewall? How come these ports aren't open when you are surfing the web?

I think I'm having some kind of a similar problem here too...
I'm using Singtel though.
Some pages are not loading, or even when they load, load halfway then stop loading... I wonder why. It's like timed out or something.
Msn messenger also. Just sign in for a few seconds then it says I have been disconnected... -
Me also Singnet user... no problems...
If using firewall, make sure that it's not blocking MSN or any other applications that require web access.
If you are using some routers, make sure that all those LED lights are lighted up, otherwise you can't connect to the Net. If nothing works, just repair the connection.
Those on WinPoet connection... disconnect, wait a while then reconnect back...
Those using the Thomson modem... right click on the connection, select Disable. Wait a while, go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on the connection and select Enable.
Then try again. -
It's weird. The lights are all lighted up. The problem only arises today for me though...

but slow connection speeds still exist
EDIT: the stopping of loading webpages also still exist
sometimes also stop with a blank page and sometimes it loads webpages with pictures as words. when refresh then only i get to see the pictures -

From the Speedtest website, it looks more like you are on dial-up.
Slow torrents, please see manyu's post in the sticky, either Page 1 or 2 for the tweaks...
I also see that you have both wired and wireless connections... disable the wired connections... Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right click on Local Area Connection (the one with 2 monitors) and select Disable... -

I FOUND OUT SOMETHING

the problem only occurs if i disable CCApp.exe (Norton) from starup
i did that because i installed Zonealarm which would conflict. but it doesnt seem to work
i then tried restore ccapp.exe to startup, the port problem stopped.
and when i disabled it again, it started again.
so my question is:
if i totally remove norton, will the problem exist?
or is there another way out? -
do i uninstall it? it firewalls ports when terminated o.o
if i do, will the problem be gone?
or will the problem be left behind when i uninstall it? -
help pls T.T
