how can i confirm that im plugging my devices into 2.0 ports? some mobo have both and im not very sure.

If you device is high speed USB2.0, when you plug inot a USB 1.1 port, windows will show up a balloon telling you that you have plugged a 2.0 device into a 1.1 port.Does it answer your question?

yes, any ways other than that? its not crucial but i do want to know without unplugging my devices, cuz my only 2.0 device, a harddrive, the plug isn't very.. safe to plug in and out.

check your motherboard model in the manufacturers' website, it should state whether the ports are 1.1 or 2.0.It's is either 1.1 or 2.0 ports, i don't know of any motherboard which have a hybrid of 1.1 and 2.0 ports, unless you got a USB 2.0 expansion card that is slotted into a PCI slot

my previous mobo was like that, only 2 out of 6 ports were USB 2.0. -_-" -
or u can comfirm which ish 2.0, then get a 4in1 USB hub and plug into that one and extend out, so u have more 2.0s, but must reead on the packageing whether the usb hub ish 2.0 or not

Basically, if your hardware is more than 4 years old, you can confirm that it's using the slower version of USB.
