Just check if yours a wireless modem, if not, get a wireless router to connect to the cable modem...Originally posted by funniegal:ok because i may get a broadband put in my bro room, but cos i cable moderm...i need a wireless lan...er..beside the mordem..and wireless card..anyother stuff i need to get?
Not just any LAN card, it has to be a wireless LAN card. Or if you prefer, get a wireless adaptor instead. Don't use wireless LAN card if you don't know how to configure.Originally posted by funniegal:i did buy a wireless router some yr ago..using laptop.. so..all i need now is just e mordem..and the lan card.?
thanks everyone who give me infor =)![]()
If you use a wireless modem, it will function as a router. Mine works this way. The router is unneeded.Originally posted by RvnRooRon84:So that means, one needs to have:
1) Wireless MODEM
2) Router
3) Adapter that's connected to the computer?
Can Mayi be a dear and explain the components that's needed?![]()
I LOVE you Mayi!Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:If you use a wireless modem, it will function as a router. Mine works this way. The router is unneeded.
If you already have a modem but without wireless capability, you need to get the router, and set up accordingly to the router's manual.
And yes, an adapter is needed. Or a wireless LAN card.
In summary:
1. If already have a router, get an adapter or WLAN card for the PC.
2. If have modem, but no wireless capability, get a router and the adapter/WLAN card.

If you get a wireless LAN card, there's no need to get the adapter and vice versa.Originally posted by funniegal:hi can i confirm again.. cos just found out i have a router*with wire* my laptop has wireless system. tomolo i will go purchase starhub broadband, which they give cablemodem. does that means i have to buy a wireless lan card. i no need to buy the router which i have...and the adapter if i use the wireless lan card? and starhub will sell that? ard how much
Your laptop doesn't need any extra hardware. Just use the Windows Wireless Configuration to connect to your wireless.Originally posted by funniegal:oh my laptop has wireless lan system.
