Hard Disk Problem

I have an external hard disk which is connected to my laptop through the USB port. The hard disk would also need to be connected to a nearby electricity supply so that it can be accessed by my computer.
It has been working fine until yesterday, when I tried to power up the external hard disk by flipping the switch on, my computer can't seem to detect the hard disk. The hard disk also has lighting around it and the light is also not on. So now I am not sure what is the cause of the problem...anyone can help?

My USB port LED did light up. The LED light indicator on the wire cord did not light up though -

Is there also another USB cable attached? If yes, try plugging that in as well. It might need to draw some power directly via the USB cable. -

but those plugs seem to be working for other appliances...as in i plugged in other appliances there, then they can be powered up...

There's definitely no power being delivered, indicated by the LED lights. Try replacing your hard disk power supply first. If it doesn't work, then err... see if others could help.Originally posted by rainee:have already tried, all cannot work...

I know this seems insulting.. But did you try warranty?
