you wouldn't be able to get the other party ip address at all -

usually you will have the isp address instead
you can try typing your own ip address, and see whose name is registered in it lor
or type tracert www.sgforums.com
you should be getting the server ip address, i think i am not wrong

32 bytes of data won't bring his PC down, unless inside the 32 bytes, it has been purposely corrupted. -

IDA can't trace even if they want to. They don't have the rights to, or rather, the powers to. Only the police force has the powers to.
They are able to track because it's required by IDA to keep all information the minute users log on to the ISP network.
Also, if you read the thread started by TheVistaAero (can't remember his nick), it's stated that all Singapore ISPs use a shared proxy server as required by IDA. Since it's a proxy server, the IP address is probably a fake one... -

Whether real or fake IP, it will always get logged. I doubt most are smart enough anyway, so the IP you've gotten is most probably the one via their ISP, which is easily traceable.Originally posted by missqi:nvm.

Just go to this site, put in the IP address that you've gotten into the WHOIS box.
It will be able to tell you which ISP he/she is registered to. -

i wrote this entry bitching about some people in my school, and i denied access to EVERYONE from my sch, even my best friend.
then one of the people i bitched about told someone that she read that entry, which is IMPOSSIBLE.
unless she has my pw...
i recalled i gave her my pw to something else....
which is same pw as my blog..
so yeah.
wanted to nail her.
sigh.
no more friends i guess.
and she wasnt supp to see that entry at all cuz she was an afterthought in that entry, not my main target. -

If yes, basically, you got owned by her. By disabling JavaScript, one can easily view the blog. If you are using other methods... also, you mentioned that you gave the password to others, so whoever knows that password would have given her access. -

There's another IP address known as the internal IP address. You can tell it by clicking on your connection (near the clock), select the Support tab. You will see IP Address: X.X.X.X, where X are numbers. That's the one assigned by your router, and is the internal IP address. Internal IP addresses are used on local networks only. So let's say you have a laptop and a PC and you want to share files, you can just connect to your laptop without ever needing the Internet.
The external IP address is what we are talking about. It's the one assigned by your ISP (Pacnet, Singnet, Starhub, M1, QMax, iCell). They are the ones that get logged by servers. Recall the threads hijacking? Jason knew because it was logged down by servers. It's also traceable, in the above link given to missqi. -

Go DNStuff. Right at the top, you should see 2 IP addresses listed. It looks like this: X.X.X.X [Y.Y.Y.Y]
X.X.X.X - this is the IP address "seen" by servers
