Those using outpost firewall or disable startup of firewall
dark_snowboy
just to share with you my experience, it gave me a lot of troubles until i found out.. IF you disable the startup of Outpost Firewall during boot in msconfig, the firewall is STILL ACTIVATED and you won't be able to uninstall outpost firewall unless you undo the process of disabling the startup.
i had trouble accessing network files for a week..all because of that.. All in all.. avoid trying to disable startup of firewalls using msconfig and end up in a similar situation as me.

I believe it installs a service as well?
Start > Run and type in services.msc
Look through the whole list and see if it's there.
If it's there, the process won't be ended... services are greater than process in Windows.

not sure whether is there a service or not, i finally got relieved of my networking problems and i uninstalled it

Might be. Anyway, they are just as disastrous as they sound.

Guess i would be better off using windows firewall, no frills, although i don't like their in-built firewall
