Hi there. Please help.
My lap top got this message. Then I click for more information, it show the following :

BCP4 : 804ECA18 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP: Product : 768_1
What does this mean? Please help....

Please help. If this means I cannot DIY to solve the problem, please let me know and I will send to a pro for servicing. If it is being repair, then I will have to get rid of it then. Whatever it is , please advise..

firstly, i dont know how to solve your problem... but i can offer some suggestions.
- try to do a scan disk to see if there are any faults with the hardisk.
- do a system recovery to a time before the error.
- reformat the whole thing back to factory setting (after backing up of course).
try doing all the above before considering wasting money for servicing. -
Did you experience any blue screens before they generated this error?

Running any programs before it crashed? -
no.. actually it is a few years old laptop, about a year ago, I sent it to agent to re-format everything. Then I install basic .. that all ... in fact, this lap top, I seldom use cause my company gave me a brand new one to work ...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Hmm...

Reboot the PC, try this:
Go to Start > Run and type in chkdsk /f to check for errors. -

At the command prompt, it say chkdsk cannot run because the volumn is in use by another process...... and the another error message comes out .. I click the button and it goes into a blank screen ...

So can I assume my system crashed and there is nothing I can do here? How much will it cost me to get pros to do it? ( estimate can leow ). Any good and cheap recommendation ?? ( must get it working la )

Restart the PC... Windows can't scan when the hard disk is in use. -
Yes, you can... get the chkdsk to run first, just need a reboot of the PC. Boot up your PC, get into BIOS. Usually you will need to press a button to get into BIOS, look at laptop screen once it boots up and press the corresponding key.
Set the first boot device to either CD or floppy (depending on which version of Memtest you saved earlier). Put in your CD or floppy, save the settings and exit.
This will check for memory errors. -
ok.. already got the CD done.. I forgot to tell you my floppy drive is out of order.. I had reset it so many times already ... will try again .. in the event if it doesn't work I supposed I should send it in to the professional.
