The system get hang up and shut down on it own.. no way to do anything at all...Originally posted by dibilo:firstly, i dont know how to solve your problem... but i can offer some suggestions.
- try to do a scan disk to see if there are any faults with the hardisk.
- do a system recovery to a time before the error.
- reformat the whole thing back to factory setting (after backing up of course).
try doing all the above before considering wasting money for servicing.
no blue screen. although it does has a very bright white screen and slowing the icon, wall paper etc vanish slowly . . .Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Did you experience any blue screens before they generated this error?

It might be bad hardware...Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:no.. actually it is a few years old laptop, about a year ago, I sent it to agent to re-format everything. Then I install basic .. that all ... in fact, this lap top, I seldom use cause my company gave me a brand new one to work ...
Yes. When Windows gives this message, it crashed. Usually it will show a blue screen... but yours didn't.Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:you mean, my system actually crashed ??...
Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Ok... will try now.. Now I know why the agent keep telling me not to upgrade my laptop .. . .

Reboot the PC, try this:
Go to Start > Run and type in chkdsk /f to check for errors.
Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:At the command prompt, it say chkdsk cannot run because the volumn is in use by another process...... and the another error message comes out .. I click the button and it goes into a blank screen ...
Yes, you can... get the chkdsk to run first, just need a reboot of the PC. If there are any errors, it will be automatically fixed.Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:So can I assume my system crashed and there is nothing I can do here? How much will it cost me to get pros to do it? ( estimate can leow ). Any good and cheap recommendation ?? ( must get it working la )

cannot check disk.. everytime half way the laptop goes blank ...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Yes, you can... get the chkdsk to run first, just need a reboot of the PC. If there are any errors, it will be automatically fixed.
Then we'll check for other things.
Download ISO version of Memtest and burn it to CD or Floppy version and save it to a floppy.Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:cannot check disk.. everytime half way the laptop goes blank ...
ok.. already got the CD done.. I forgot to tell you my floppy drive is out of order.. The agent advise me not to change since my laptop is old.. at that time he mentioned it might be better to buy new laptop instead ..Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Download ISO version of Memtest and burn it to CD or Floppy version and save it to a floppy.
Unzip the files before saving.
Boot up your PC, get into BIOS. Usually you will need to press a button to get into BIOS, look at laptop screen once it boots up and press the corresponding key.
Set the first boot device to either CD or floppy (depending on which version of Memtest you saved earlier). Put in your CD or floppy, save the settings and exit.
This will check for memory errors.
It's quite late now... tomorrow got to wake up early so going to sleep... I will try out your method tomorrow, then I will post for you to help me, can ??Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:ok.. already got the CD done.. I forgot to tell you my floppy drive is out of order..
