Starhub network speed

Hi guys,
I was thinking of comparing the speeds u r getting if you are using Starhub as ur ISP. So try for your best speed at www.speedtest.net and post here along with the following information like mine:
Starhub plan: 100Mbps (Maxonline Ultimate)
Modem: Capable of at most 33Mbps
Configuration: Wireless Router + 4 computers. (2 active when testing)
Time and Day: 12pm on a Thursday.
Area: Choa Chu Kang. (If you are scared just put east/west/north/south)
Then go over here and try Starhub's own speed test:
http://utilities.starhub.com/conexon/en/UtilitiesStartFrame.jsp
If it shows error when you load the page, hit reload and it will load again properly. Use that and see what speed is being shown. Try it a few times and post your max speed.
Starhub Speedtest: 27.31 Mbps.
Lets see what kind of service we are really getting from our dear Starhub :p -

Wow.. What plan are u using man? Maxonline Premium 12Mbps ?
And you are directly connected to the modem I guess? I suspect my 3 or 4 computers are causing the low speed for me.. Any other suggestions guys? -
You are right about the multiple computers connecting issue. Starhub will split the bandwidth.

Starhub Speedtest: 48.16 Mbps
So, I don't understand what those numbers mean, can anyone enlighten me?

Hmm.. thats weird, how did you get 48.16 for Starhub speedtest? Not possible man.. U are using Premium plan rite? Which is at most 12Mbps and also you stated that ur modem is capable of up to 12Mbps, even if its like almost all other modems, at most its throughput can be 33Mbps. How can ever reach 48.16? Hmm.. Basically Download speed is at the speed at which you can download and similar upload speed is the speed at which you can upload (like when uploading pictures to websites or attachments to emails). Latency is the round trip time for a packet of information to go from your computer to the server and come back. Distance is distance from the server to your computer.

Or am I looking at the wrong stats?
I'm suppose to read the "Top Speed Attained" right? -
One more thing, so the speedtest from the Starhub site indicates the download rate or upload rate?

Uh im using a laptop now, and i stay around Little India, and its nearly ten pm on a Thursday. And there are three laptops in all connected to the router now.

Woah.. Then how come my speed is so horrible man.. Mine is linksys too. But thats the router. Modem is usually Motorola.. =) Its the modem which limits the speed. Routers can just go happily till 100Mbps =)Originally posted by missqi:uh the linksys one loh. -
