Disk read error

Have this message abt disk read error when started pc......replace with other harddisks also the same....cannot reinstall windows as system will halted to prevent further damage to pc....what can be the problem?

but again, cable seldom fails. -
Boot to the XP CD and select Repair XP.
If it's able to boot up, type in fixmbr.
It will have no GUI, it's totally command line. Follow the prompts. -

I got the same problem before too..Now i used the hd as slave drive since the only problem is that you cant boot from it
