Help with router and SCV cable modem.

just got a Linksys router and i'd need to connect the modem to the router. I am using use to direct connect the modem to the computer now, but the router does not have a USB port for me to connect the modem to it. Am i doing it wrongly? How to get it done? Thanks alo9t.

you connect the modem to the router
then you need a adaptor connect to your computer through the usb port to receive the signal -
can i get a replace using then usb with internet cable, then connect it to the router?

Read the Linksys manual. You are doing it wrongly.
Modem is still connected to the PC using USB as per usual. -

last time, when i was still using the router,
i connect my adaptor through a usb port
and between, you need to blue wire to connect your modem to your router,
do you have a adaptor to receive the signal? -

he is talking about a router,
the modem has to be connected to the router, then the adaptor is connected to the computer to receive the signal

if he actually wants to connect the router to the computer, then what is the point of having a wireless connection, maybe for the EXTRA FIREWALL, BAH -

Now my desktop is connected to the modem through USB port.
The router comes with a internet cable and power adaptor.
The set up ask me to remove the connection from my computer to the modem and connect it to the router, but i am using USB to connect, and the router dun have USB port..
I am confused over that... -

then you will have a network, right?
all you need to do, is to have another adaptor for your laptop
then you will have wireless connection for both of your workstation
why do you want to connect the router to your computer, huh?
between, do you know, how to setup, your router?
if you connect the router to your computer, then what is the point of having wireless connection

you need to CONNECT THE MODEM to THE ROUTER,
don't have to CONNECT THE ROUTER TO THE COMPUTER
i don't know what you are talking about, if you find a hassle to setup, please don't use a router, because i doubt you will know how to setup your network, and if i have an adaptor, and i know where you are living, i can access your network easily
when you setup up your router, you still need to access 192.168.1.1, then need to open up port and setup password
there are alot of steps, you need to do, and it will take about 30 min to 1 hour to finish
and since you have only one adaptor, you might as well, get another adaptor as well, then CONNECT YOUR MODEM TO YOUR ROUTER
between, you need only one modem, two adaptor, and one router,
AND YOU DON'T NEED TO CONNECT THE ROUTER TO YOUR COMPUTER -

Don't remove the USB connection to the modem.
Then switch on the router. -

have the software ah.. but after i plug in the cable my notebook can detect and connect already

Sorry, now got another problem again. The router is working fine already, both notebook can connect to the internet.
The thing is hor, only my desktop can use the internet, both note books, although showed connected, and excellent strength, still cannot use the internet... Any 1 can help?? thanks alot. -
U didn't enable WEP or anything rite? Make sure you have not set any password to access your wireless network. Then see if you can connect to the internet. See if your laptop has been assigned an IP.. It must be 192.168.1.* or 192.168.0.* where * can be anything from 0 to 255. Most probably it should be assigned.
If not try typing and running the command "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew" in command prompt.
Anyways, if your desktop can connect, then laptops should be able to connect too sooner or later bah =) And always enable WEP when using wireless ya? Else anyone can happily and VERY easily access your computers and their files and even hijack your router.

anybody having problems with Starhub cable recently?
don't know why almost everyday the internet is not connected to the internet and must keep restarting it (on and off the power again)
