open prog. and open new window damn slow

any idea why issit liddat? when i open a program, sometimes its damn slow. and when i open new tab or IE, it takes damn long for the screen to pop up.

Check your task manager to see if any programs are using lots of resources.

Try closing it and opening it again.
Also, limit the files you download, otherwise it can eat up a lot of resources. -

svhost IS NOT Windows file.
svchost is likely to be, unless you tio virus. -
svchost.exe is Window's own process. Its fine usually to be using high memory. Mine uses almost 50Mb sometimes.. explorer.exe is your desktop interface and all. It will use a lot too (ard 30Mb, mine uses abt 60Mb+) If u remove wallpaper and all the extra clutter from ur desktop then it will be lowered. Mine has floating icons and all those thats y its high.
How much ram do u have in the first place?
To check, you can right click on "My Computer" icon then click properties. It will be listed under the "General" tab under the title Computer:
If its 512Mb or below, its time to upgrade =) -
Normally this kind of problem can be explained by:
1) Got virus
2) Virus scanner is slow (on-demand scan whenever u launch or explore files, etc)

To each his own. Some people use more memory than others. Just check task manager to see lor. If in task manager the amount of free Physical Memory is always low, then windows will swap out memory a lot. For this case, you will see your hard disk light always blinking, and the whole system is slow. That means, time to buy more memory.

here's some of my tips!
1st there might be some registry errors or unwanted in your system which may causes high memory usage.
2nd you might have open to many program's at once, desktop wallpapers may also affect memory usage, if there are more program's running all at once each of its program memory usage will also increase this is what i experience in many computer's i have used.
my firefox has 55k memory usage.
actually if you plan to have a fast pc is best you get a good processor, maybe 1gb of ram and better motherboard?? mine is 3gb ram.
graphic card may also come to play apart with memory usage, if your window is like enhanced with lots of widget or very high resolution desktop wallpapers may also effect slowing down yr pc. and since your pc is like taken alot of memory opening up programs with about 40k memory usage will of course slow down yr pc even further.
the pictures and words on webpages also play apart!

you can try some my method to improve your pc speed.
1st go to start - control panel - display then you can change a different desktop wallpaper with lesser resolution and not so colorful
2nd method - start - control panel - display - setting change resolution will help.
3rd method - start - all programs - accessories - ssytem tools - disk defragmenter, this can be quite long and if u recieve error its time you get yr pc for repair, it means yr system files might have been corrupted or virus attacks i'm not to sure on this no confident.
because color has binary number which are called hexidecimals 1 - F so displaying colorful wallpapers, the system will have to go pass many logic gates from the processor and to display your colorful pictures that will have alot of hexidecimals.
theres are alot more advance techniques but i'm still a beginner and hope to learn more. -

lol 700+? weird, iszit 1gb or 512mb wont be accurate but its near that number, but 700 i not too sure, i never seen any ram has 700 but if u add the + measn above 700?
this is wat i noe so far ram is starts from 8 16 32 64 128 256 512 1gb then 2gb,
2gb super ex for 1 entire stick
1gb DDR 2 cheap haha but make sure yr motherboard supports it.
1gb DDR 1 abit ex cause ppl say like want to extinct. -
