As long as its a processor doing the calculations, everything will run fine. A calculator can do just as fine, if you can get over the button obstacle first.

One thing, programming need a lot of screen space during design and testing. Even when coding, it's harder if your screen is small. So get laptop with big screen. Other than that shud be no prob

I program on a laptop with only 256mb of ram.. running visual studio isnt a prob la.

1gb is enough although, it heats up quite intensively when it's running some high capacity calculations
